I pulled in to the Beaverton library parking lot today (in my Chevy S10EV) and as I am looking for a parking spot, I see a familiar tailgate, there is the word "Electric" in the Chevy lighting font just like on my truck. The bumper even has a diamond shaped "EV" sticker. I pul...

FYI: GFCI is still important, because most electrical codes that I have seen require GFCI for any plug in a garage or outside the house, which I would think (and hope) includes almost all EV chargers. Pv On Jan 15, 2008 10:55 AM, Tom Dowling <[email removed]> wrote: > Note tha...

Note that NEC article 625.23 doesn?t apply, since the charger is rated only 32 amperes and is only 120 volts to ground. I also have never seen a GFCI device without a test and reset button, and I can?t say for sure that the Gen I built-in breaker is a GFCI device. I do recall,...

I read through the technical explanation of the Charge Port capacitor failure (Thanks again Jeff!). One thing that I'm curious about is that I think that the charge port has a temperature sensor, which I would assume is for the purpose of shutting down the charging if the char...

The Gen 2 certainly does have GFCI protection, but I am not sure of the Gen 1. I think the breaker built into the Gen 1 is probably to comply with the National Electric Code article 625.23 "For electric vehicle supply equipment rated more than 60 amperes or more than 150 volts...
