[S10-EV] S10EV Weight Reduction

Bill Palter Tue, 31 Jul 2007 09:35:40 -0700 2007 Thread size 3
There are a lot of aftermarker fiberglass panels designed for S10's. You might be able to replace the bed, fenders and hood.....You also could just pull off the bed and make a lightweight flatbed out of plastic panels. Also there are fiberglass kits to make it look like a 30's...

[S10-EV] Transmission question

List member Thu, 31 May 2007 16:40:54 EDT 2007 Thread size 2
Hello Niel I was surprised to find out ATF has been used in some manual transmissions including this one. I have not owned a newer vehicle with a manual so this is very interesting. At least I gave the right advise on the main question. To buy a used transmission from a lower...

[S10-EV] Refrigerant quantity

Jeff Thomas Thu, 31 May 2007 13:06:59 -0700 2007 Thread size 4
Richard, pass this procedure on to Mark. Everyone else should print and keep it for the future. The three refrigerant control valves are beneath the PIM, and require PIM removal to provide decent access to the valves. If there is any question on PIM removal, please call for de...

[S10-EV] Transmission question

List member Tue, 29 May 2007 14:06:45 EDT 2007 Thread size 2
Hello Tom This is a conversion so not much relates to 97-98 S-10 EV. To answer Peter's question. I would never use Automatic transmission fluid in a manual. Peter would be time and money ahead to just find another used transmission from a lower mileage vehicle. Don Blazer From...

Thanks, EVeryone-- Thanks for the links. They are very helpful. Those guys in Austin seem to be having a lot of fun! There were THREE "open garage" parties one recent weekend, and a caravan to Dallas for the Phoenix Motorcars unveiling TODAY. Thanks again for your links. What...

[S10-EV] Replacing fuel fired heater w/ electric element?

Jerry Pohorsky Thu, 8 Mar 2007 08:36:58 -0800 2007 Thread size 11
Hi Lynn, OK - I get it now. The liquid heater from MetricMind mentioned below works, but it sounds like a difficult and bulky installation. There is a much cheaper and simpler solution that I would recommend. I once had a Ford Escort EV that had the electric heater from KTA se...

[S10-EV] Spare tire

Joshua Tomel Wed, 07 Mar 2007 19:10:19 -0500 2007 Thread size 2
I have the GM parts to install a spare tire under bed and want to do it. I figure if GM didn't have a problem installing a spare tire hoist behind the gas tank it shouldn't be any problem with the battery box either. I also realize this handicaps the trucks range carrying the...

[S10-EV] [RAV4-EV] SacBee "Question of the Month" is about EVs

Tom Dowling Thu, 8 Feb 2007 00:31:53 -0800 2007 Thread size 1
One-upmanship: they did use my entry, even though Felix didn't include it in his sample, which is a shortened version from the Bee Web site. Overall, the article is a remarkable response, very favorable. If you can get a copy of the 2/7/07 Sacramento Bee, do it! It's a collect...

[S10-EV] HOV stickers and vehicle counts....

Tom Dowling Fri, 2 Feb 2007 09:39:41 -0800 2007 Thread size 1
Interesting info posted to the CNG list.... Note that they quote DMV statistics saying that there are 78,000 electric vehicles registered in California. I'm sure this number included registered NEVs with plates, but it's still a higher number than I can recall seeing before. A...
