Hi Patrick, I also am a new S-10ev owner. I live in Salem, Oregon. I am a customer of PGE. Last Thursday I had a talk with Josh Halley of Green Mountain Energy. Green Mountain supplies the alternative energy electricity to PGE and sells the service to PGE customers. I own a bu...

Patrick, Good for you. The only flaw in you calculation is that you are including all of the upstream emissions for the EV, but only the actual tailpipe emissions for the ICE car. While the ICE tailpipe emissions are simple physics, the upstream emissions are more complicated....

Dear Patrick, welcome to the EV world and this list! A couple of thoughts on your calculations: 1) Other EV drivers have performed more complete calculations and have shown that EVs using pure coal derived electricity are better than driving ICE. So I suspect that your calcula...

I drive a 1998 Chevy S-10 EV and I love it. I've only been an EV driver since Feb 2007 so am I still a newbie to the club. I assumed that EV driving was automatically cleaner than ICE driving. To check this, I did some quick pollution calculations on both EV and ICE. There are...

Marcos - You can definitely cut a slot deep enough where the amount of torque you can apply will be GREATER than what you could have applied with the proper security bit. In the meantime, you can put a drop of penetrating oil on the screws in question. Good luck! -= Darell =-...

Could be a difference in definitions, especially given the importance of the number in the automotive industry. Horsepower for a given engine will vary with speed and load (and perhaps temperature and other variables), so the measurement method has to be standardized. Of cours...
