Hello Jeff, Pat and Don: I read with great interest the postings on battery life in Digest 51, #1. While I was in New Jersey last week I left the S10 in the "care" of my wife who *always* gets significantly less range than I do no matter which vehicle she uses. In the Prius, I...

Lynn, Ebay is a very fickle marketplace, as we seen dead S10 EV's have gone for almost 15K, with almost assured more problems than just dead batteries. I'm not Ebay Power seller but in my auctions I have gone through enough trial and error in selling that have lead me to four...

There is a price to be paid by not charging the S-10EV to full, and outweighs the benefit of not charging to full. I'll explain. Each of the 26 NiMH battery modules exhibit a slightly different impedance and parasitic discharge rate. Differing module temperatures occur due to...

I don't have the data to back up my opinion, but I think full 100% charging does shorten battery life. On the Toyota Prius, the NMH batteries are cycled between 40% and I think 85% SOC. They could get the most life out of their batteries in this range. This makes sense to me....

As far as I know, charging the battery to full does not reduce the service life of the batteries. I don't think that is what Don was talking about. I think Don was referring to the fact that if you charge your pack to full and then let it set for a few hours then it will have...

As far as I remember, it has always been recommended to never drive past 50% SOC. If you have the EV1Dash software, you can use your judgement which 50% SOC you care to heed, but they are relatively close enough to each other that you should hopefully be close to a charger whe...

Batt Life will light for a few different reasons, though the most common is triggered through too aggressive of driving style for the given state of charge. A timer is started within the BPCM on the first low volt event (usually acceleration), and accumulates until the volume...

Interesting. Most RV parks do have separate meters for each space. It's certainly true that some RV parks are not at all EV-friendly, but many RV parks are EV-friendly. Not all RV parks have 240V service. Some of the smaller and older parks have 120V service only. In RV park d...

I have found early morning charging (cool temps.) and only charging to 3/4 capacity will keep the A/C from going on. You might be able to use conductive charging and not worry about temperature issues if you follows these rules. However, you still have the "state of charge" in...
