Possibly Don or Pat. Maybe they'll chime in. There's somewhere close to ten S-10EV's in Portland. All thanks to Don's efforts to reintroduce them. Jeff On Dec 4, 2007, at 10:10 PM, tony barker wrote: > > As a former Vacavillian and now a WA resident, I was blown away at > an S...

OK, got some time to get back on the S-10... Got the Tech 2 and have found the following: Trouble codes of Low Battery and Very Low Battery plus Comm Failure Batteries are at 320 to 330 volts, so have plenty of charge and the Tech 2 reads that voltage. When I look at the Batte...

[S10-EV] Fwd: batt life warning

Jeff Thomas Fri, 2 Nov 2007 07:08:26 -0700 2007 Thread size 7
There is a price to be paid by not charging the S-10EV to full, and outweighs the benefit of not charging to full. I'll explain. Each of the 26 NiMH battery modules exhibit a slightly different impedance and parasitic discharge rate. Differing module temperatures occur due to...

[S10-EV] What price should I ask for my 1997 S10E with NiMH pack

Adams, Lynn Fri, 2 Nov 2007 07:52:57 -0600 2007 Thread size 7
I am thinking about selling my S10E and would like to get the list's input on what price it should sell for. This is a 1997 S10E with the EVBones NiMH upgrade. I got the truck in March 2006 with 12600 miles on the truck with the recently installed NiMH pack. The truck now has...

I don't have the data to back up my opinion, but I think full 100% charging does shorten battery life. On the Toyota Prius, the NMH batteries are cycled between 40% and I think 85% SOC. They could get the most life out of their batteries in this range. This makes sense to me....

As far as I know, charging the battery to full does not reduce the service life of the batteries. I don't think that is what Don was talking about. I think Don was referring to the fact that if you charge your pack to full and then let it set for a few hours then it will have...

[S10-EV] Batt Life

Jeff Thomas Wed, 31 Oct 2007 06:49:12 -0700 2007 Thread size 3
Batt Life will light for a few different reasons, though the most common is triggered through too aggressive of driving style for the given state of charge. A timer is started within the BPCM on the first low volt event (usually acceleration), and accumulates until the volume...
