[S10-EV] Fuel Fired Heater Questions

McMullin, Kevin Mon, 28 Dec 2009 14:38:48 -0500 2009 Thread size 11
I'm a new owner too, however, I would guess you have a problem in your fill pipe. I have actually never filled mine at a gas station. I filled a 5 gallon Diesel container and use that to fill at my home. I converted the bed of the truck to tilt and had to re-locate the fill pi...

[S10-EV] My turn! :) Truck only charges to 81% then E2 on charger and Service Now/DTC on truck

Paul Peavyhouse Wed, 16 Dec 2009 21:09:25 -0800 2009 Thread size 3
I've reset the SOC two more times, and now all 4 times the truck soon stops charging w/ E2. The Tech2 has the following two BPCM DTCs: - 0064 Battery 8 Excessive Voltage Change - 0274 Auto Disconnect Open Battery Control Module Commanded The charge aborting at 81% was a false...

[S10-EV] E2 Error

Hello Niel, First, apologies for not getting back earlier. When I get busy at work, I am not near a computer. The temps when it happened where probably in the 40's. This summer we were having charging issues in warmer temps but that was only with our charger at home e-5. Bill...

[S10-EV] Kerosene Heater

Gil Dawson Mon, 14 Dec 2009 11:04:03 -0800 2009 Thread size 3
Thanks, Niel-- I'm delighted to learn from someone with experience in a matter I've merely pondered. This is such a great email list. I can write about my guesses with confidence that someone will let me know when I've guessed wrong. --Gil On Dec 13, 2009, at 11:26 A, Niel Nie...

[S10-EV] S10-EV E-2 Error, Service Now

rayan ghazal Sun, 13 Dec 2009 21:24:32 -0800 2009 Thread size 1
Hello Niel, The truck is a 1998 native NiMH, from EVBones. Previous to the "service now,e-2" incident a few days ago I always heard the fan when plugging in for a charge. Although it could be an intermittent or recent problem, I will double check it tomorrow morning. Do you kn...

[S10-EV] My turn! :) Truck only charges to 81% then E2 on charger and Service Now/DTC on truck

Paul Peavyhouse Sat, 12 Dec 2009 11:30:11 -0800 2009 Thread size 3
I've had my S10EV for goin' on 3 years now and am relatively familiar w/ its peculiarities, either from direct experience or vicariously from this mailing list. Recently my truck stopped charging to full and the charger E2s and the Service Now light comes on. It stopped at 81%...

[S10-EV] Will NiMH batteries freeze

Gil Dawson Sat, 12 Dec 2009 09:30:01 -0800 2009 Thread size 3
Hi, Michael-- Please let us know if you find out to the contrary, but there's unlikely to be any pure water in the batteries, and any other chemical in liquid form would have a dramatically different freezing point. So no, 32?F would likely not be a temperature at which state...

[S10-EV] Will NiMH batteries freeze

Michael MacDonell Sat, 12 Dec 2009 08:27:31 -0800 (PST) 2009 Thread size 3
Will discharged Nimh batteries freeze causing damage to the battery? The trucks I'm looking at have to be transported from California to Georgia. I would assume the transport company would take the southern route but if they had to pick up any vehicles up north before heading...

[S10-EV] Cogging

Stephen Weitz Mon, 7 Dec 2009 18:21:12 -0800 2009 Thread size 4
It only happens when I'm starting out. Its a little like a clutch vehicle when the clutch is not let out properly, a slight bucking. I don't have any warning lights but I guess I should get it checked with a scan tool. Stephen On Dec 7, 2009, at 6:11 PM, Ryan Dela wrote: > Sou...

[S10-EV] Cogging

Ryan Dela Mon, 7 Dec 2009 18:11:53 -0800 2009 Thread size 4
Sounds like a loose connection to me. At best the plug might be coming loose or the motor position encoder could be going bad. Worst case an IGBT module in the controller could be going bad, or there is a ground fault. if there is a ground fault the HV contactors should open?...

[S10-EV] pre-nup

Ryan Dela Sun, 6 Dec 2009 16:25:46 -0800 2009 Thread size 2
The pre-nup is a good idea. I figure since I bought my truck in 2004 I have spent more time under the hood or in the battery pack than behind the wheel. Most of that time was when it was a lead acid truck before it was converted to nimh. This is not to say that you will have t...

[S10-EV] New member greetings and a few questions

Michael MacDonell Sat, 5 Dec 2009 16:38:43 -0800 (PST) 2009 Thread size 1
I'm close to doing a deal on these trucks but have one last concern. One truck has been down a year and the other for 9 months. What are the opinions on whether the batteries will "wake up"? I don't want a truck that will need new batteries? My fiance would kill me for not buy...

[S10-EV] Convenience Charger

McMullin, Kevin Fri, 4 Dec 2009 14:21:57 -0500 2009 Thread size 1
My convenience charger gave up. For about a month it was the only charger I had and I guess I used up the 10 to 15 uses these are apparently good for. Has anyone had good luck with them? After mine quit, I was told they are only for "emergencies". (Well then lets re-name them)...
