Yours is a good question, Pat. That perplexes me, too. Here's a thought: Although my S-10 was a Solectria conversion, my experience with charging those lead/acd batteries versus the NiMh was, timewise, that it took twice as long to get the lead ones back up, as opposed to the...

Recharging the NiMh chemistry exhibits poor Coulombic efficiency. This generates a lot of heat in turn. Compare the specs of any vehicle (EVAmerica) that was produced in both versions and you will see the consistant trend. Greg. ----- Original Message ----- From: [email remove...

The 1999 EPA Fuel Economy Guide lists the lead acid and the NiMh Chevy S10EV. However, there is something in the data that I do not understand. Here are the data: 1998 GM S10 EV lead: 45 kW?h/100 mi city, 41 kW?h/100 mi highway 1998 GM S10 EV NiMh: 94 kW?h/100 mi city, 86 kW?h...

Hello Pat Your correct it will not work. You really need 240 at 40 amps. You can use a 30 amp but your pushing the amp limit. Sometimes 30 will work for a while then trip the breaker. The convenience charger some have used as long as the AC does not kick on. I have found they...
