Below is a past post by Jeff from over three years ago. I believe if you asked Jeff today he would highly recommend replacing them. I would compare this to like driving without insurance. You never now how long you can do it or what will the damages be if something does happen...

The defroster problem is well known. It may even mention it in the owners manual. The reason is because the heater is a heat pump. It takes quite a while to get hot air. It is best to turn on the heat and defroster for some time before driving the truck. Once everything is war...
