[S10-EV] Converting 1997 S10E back to lead acid programming

Hi Richard, To do this you query the vehicle for its VIN # via the Tech 2. You then link the Tech 2 to the GM SPS system and query for BPCM calibrations [there are four possibilities for a '97 VIN; the 1) Delco cal., 2) Panasonic PbA cal,, 3) Ovonic NiMH initial install cal.,...

[S10-EV] Ovonic NiMH Modules

I still have a couple of pallets of the Ovonic NiMH modules. These have never been in S-10 so they should have around the same capacity as the ones installed by EVBones. The weather has been a little cool for waking up the batteries. In a month or two I will have cycled up a p...

[S10-EV] S10-EV Digest, Vol 81, Issue 5

There's likely to be a fit issue to begin with. NiMH batteries have a very different charge profile than PbA, so the existing BMS will NOT work unless it can be reprogrammed. Changing battery chemistries can be done, but it's a lot of very careful and relatively technical work...

[S10-EV] S19E battery pack.

Richard, Very exciting to hear you're going with a Lithium pack. I have new lead/acids in mine, so I'm not interested in NiMH cells. But it brings up several questions. How you're going to charge? Where you purchased the batteries? What type of BMS you're using? How the BPCM i...

Rusty, I obtained permission from GM a couple years ago to sell copies of the 1997 manuals. With Priority Shipping they are $100, which essentially covers getting the copies made and shipping them. Will this help? Steve Gibbs -----Original Message----- From: Rusty Schwartz [ma...

Hello, Upon arriving at work this morning, I attempted to charge my truck, but got a "Check Vehicle" error on my Gen1 charger. I checked for DTCs and found two which were readily cleared (I forgot which codes, but can check history), then tried to charge again. Still got the e...
