Dear Jeff, I am so sorry to hear that your health is not returning to normal and I commend you for being willing to give up something you valued so highly in order to keep yourself alive and probably sane as well. Obviously (for selfish reasons if nothing else) I am sorry to h...

To go with Jeff's battery pack, you can buy my truck (98 NiHM) for $5K. Except for one battery (that needs to be replaced), the truck runs fine. I commuted in it for about 3-4 years. It has 30K+ miles on it. I'm selling it because my commute changed from 30 miles round-trip to...

Mirror to all on the list; All trucks that are NiMH, whether they were original, or converted later, can be reprogrammed for PbA battery operation. To reprogram the truck it does require the GM Tech2 scan tool as well as the GM TIS application. Due to health issues, I have don...

Hi everyone, I am a grad student in Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University. We have a 1998 S10 EV here, that has dead batteries. We have no idea if all the other components are still good, and have no documentation on the vehicle. I was recommended to reques...

I have the Atlanta chapter S10E pickup. The traction batteries are dead as shown on the dash. When I plug in the charger it reads E1 after an extended period of time. Do regular mechanic shops have the scan tool necessary to read S10E codes. Where do I start? Please call or wr...

[S10-EV] Source code to read from ALDL/OBD1.5 as if Tech2

My wife & I have had our S10 EV for about two years now and the batteries have overheated twice during that time. We have been extremely lucky and have not lost much range - we can still go about 50 miles on a charge. I have come to feel that driving and charging one of these...

[S10-EV] My S-10 Rides again!

Hi All, This would be a good idea, and even better if it were simply an added screen to the existing OBD-II Palm EV1 Dash program. There would be a number of additional parameters of interest. Steve -----Original Message----- From: Alex Beamer [mailto:[email removed]] Sent: Tu...

Mostly just 26 voltages, 6 temperatures, airflow, and airflow temp. Basically, anything you can read from the Tech2. To be precise, the pack isn't sending the data; the truck is polling it. I fairly extensively reverse engineered most of the Tech2 protocol from Jan-Apr of this...

Just when I thought it was safe to drive an EV... Well, after two days and over 200 "virtual" miles (on jack stands), I re-installed the pack today, and...DTC #279! My best guess is that there's a short between the HV circuit and the battery tray support. Since the frame of th...

[S10-EV] Range of RAV4EV vs S-10E and Government Motors

>I hope Goverment Motors does a better job for us. Government Motors aka "New GM" aka Vehicle Acquisition Holdings LLC will buy the valuable bits of "Old GM" - the rest will be liquidated. New GM, Old GM, I have a feeling that it won't matter. We will now have two companies ig...

So has anyone tried to replace body parts with fiberglass replacements? I think there are hoods available that should fit, plus as a test you could pull the bed off and see, it should not be too difficult to drop some weight from the truck.. btw I have both an S10 and a Rav4,...
